RM5 Million Boost for Rice Farming Project in Pusa

PUSA – A major agricultural initiative is set to transform the Muton Kara, Undai constituency, with RM5 million allocated for rice farming projects aimed at strengthening local food production and boosting the economy.

The announcement was made by Dato Razaili Gapor, Assemblyman for Beting Maro, during the Christmas and New Year Celebration Programme at Rumah Panjai Muton Kara, Undai.

He explained that the project would not only enhance rice yields but also generate wider agricultural outputs, positioning Beting Maro as a potential hub for local products in Sarawak.

“With the various outputs from agriculture in the area, Beting Maro is suitable to be promoted as a local product hub for Sarawak,” he said.

Razaili added that programmes and activities are being planned for the new year to further strengthen the constituency’s economy and improve household incomes.

The initiative is expected to create opportunities for farmers and residents to diversify their agricultural ventures, ensuring long-term sustainability.

Highlighting Sarawak’s multicultural society, Razaili praised the state’s ability to maintain peace and prosperity despite its ethnic diversity.

He encouraged residents to preserve their cultural heritage while striving to raise their living standards through active participation in development programmes.

“Sarawak is fortunate to be inhabited by many races, proud of their ethnicity and able to live together in peace, security and prosperity,” he said.

He emphasised that unity among communities is crucial for achieving development goals and ensuring Sarawak continues to generate strong economic returns. “If we unite, we can achieve development and Sarawak will continue to earn a good income,” he added.

The RM5 million allocation reflects the government’s commitment to rural development and food security.

Rice farming remains a vital sector in Sarawak, and the project is expected to contribute significantly to the state’s agricultural output while improving livelihoods in Pusa and surrounding areas.

By promoting Beting Maro as a centre for local products, the initiative also aligns with Sarawak’s broader vision of enhancing rural economies and showcasing the state’s agricultural strengths.

The project is anticipated to bring long-term benefits, including job creation, cultural preservation, and stronger community resilience.
