PM Anwar Ibrahim Pays Tribute at Mausoleum in Ankara

ANKARA – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim performed a wreath-laying ceremony at Anıtkabir (Mausoleum), the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founding father of modern Turkey.

The solemn ceremony was part of Anwar Ibrahim’s official visit to Ankara, where he paid respects to Atatürk, widely regarded as a central figure in Turkey’s history and nation-building.

Following the ceremony, the Prime Minister toured the Anıtkabir complex, which includes a museum showcasing historical narratives, the sacrifices made during Turkey’s formative years, and Atatürk’s vision for building a strong and unified nation.

Anwar Ibrahim described the visit as an opportunity for reflection on leadership, patriotism, and the values that underpin national progress.

He emphasised that such experiences highlight the importance of devotion to the motherland and the role of integrity and fairness in shaping a dignified future.

The Prime Minister’s tribute at Anıtkabir symbolises Malaysia’s respect for Turkey’s historical legacy and its leadership figures.

It also reflects the strengthening of ties between Malaysia and Turkey, as Anwar Ibrahim continues his official engagements in Ankara.

The visit to Anıtkabir is a customary gesture for foreign leaders, underscoring the significance of Atatürk’s contributions to Turkey’s independence and modernisation.

For Anwar Ibrahim, the occasion provided a moment to draw parallels between Malaysia’s aspirations and the enduring values of national unity and resilience.
