ANKARA – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim received a courtesy visit from Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, Defence Industry Secretary of the Defence Industry Secretariat under the President of the Republic of Turkey.
The meeting provided an opportunity for constructive dialogue aimed at strengthening defence cooperation between Malaysia and Turkey.
Discussions centred on capability development, technology transfer, and training, with a particular focus on human capital development as a foundation for sustaining the national defence industry.
Both sides acknowledged the importance of enhancing collaboration between defence companies from Malaysia and Turkey.
Existing partnerships were reviewed, with agreement that these efforts should be elevated to a more strategic and comprehensive level.
The Prime Minister emphasised that cooperation must be guided by the principles of complementarity and mutual benefit, ensuring that joint initiatives align with the broader interests of regional security and national sovereignty.
The courtesy visit reflects Malaysia’s commitment to building stronger international partnerships in defence and security.
It also highlights Turkey’s role as a key partner in advancing technological capabilities and fostering long-term collaboration in the defence sector.
Anwar Ibrahim reiterated that Malaysia’s defence industry must remain sustainable, competitive, and future-ready.
