PM Anwar Meets Mesut Özil in Istanbul, Discusses Humanitarian Issues

ISTANBUL – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, a long-time supporter of Manchester United, met with former Arsenal star Mesut Özil during his visit to Istanbul.

Özil, who is currently active in the AK Party of Turkey and engaged in various humanitarian initiatives, joined Anwar Ibrahim in a discussion that touched on issues of concern to Muslims worldwide, including the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both figures to exchange views on leadership, values, and the importance of solidarity in addressing global challenges.

Anwar Ibrahim highlighted the role of young people in advancing universal justice and contributing meaningfully to society.

In a lighter moment, the Prime Minister shared a story about his grandson, a devoted supporter of Arsenal, which brought a smile to Özil’s face.

The exchange underscored the unifying power of football as a bridge between communities and generations.

Anwar Ibrahim extended an invitation to Özil to visit Malaysia, where he could share his experiences related to football, leadership, and humanitarian work.

The Prime Minister noted that such engagement would inspire Malaysian youth to embrace values of justice, solidarity, and human dignity.

The meeting in Istanbul reflected the intersection of sports, politics, and humanitarian causes, highlighting how figures from different backgrounds can come together to promote shared values and strengthen international ties.
