ISTANBUL – Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, accompanied by his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and the Malaysian delegation, has departed for Kuala Lumpur following the conclusion of a successful official visit to Ankara and Istanbul.
The visit was described as highly productive, strengthening bilateral relations between Malaysia and Turkey across a wide range of strategic areas. It also opened new opportunities expected to deliver direct benefits to the people of both nations.
Anwar Ibrahim emphasised Turkey’s role as a strategic bridge between East and West, noting that the country remains a consistent partner for Malaysia, built on principles of mutual respect, trust, and shared aspirations.
The Prime Minister expressed his sincere appreciation to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, First Lady Emine Erdoğan, and the people of Turkey for the warm and family-like hospitality extended to the Malaysian delegation throughout their stay in Anatolia.
He also paid tribute to the efforts of Wisma Putra, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), the Malaysian Embassy in Ankara, and the Consulate General in Istanbul.
Their coordination, alongside the contributions of security personnel and media representatives, ensured that each programme was conducted smoothly and in an orderly manner.
The official visit included high-level meetings, strategic cooperation agreements, and engagements with business leaders, reflecting Malaysia’s commitment to deepening ties with Turkey.
The outcomes of the trip are expected to strengthen economic, diplomatic, and cultural cooperation, reinforcing Malaysia’s position as a trusted partner in the region.
