JPJ Sarawak Cracks Down on E-Hailing Offences Near Kuching Airport

KUCHING – The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sarawak has stepped up enforcement of e-hailing regulations with a focused operation near the Kuching International Airport.

The Public Service Vehicle Ops (E-Hailing), conducted by the JPJ Falcon Team, was led by Mr. Mohd Ismail bin Omar, Head of the Kuching JPJ Operations Unit. The operation aimed to ensure that all e-hailing vehicles in the area comply with the legal provisions and operating conditions stipulated under Malaysian transport laws.

During the inspection, several e-hailing drivers were found violating regulations, prompting JPJ officers to issue non-compliance notices for further action. Mr. Mohd Ismail stressed that such operations are part of ongoing efforts to maintain high standards of safety, legal compliance, and service quality in the public transport sector.

“Public safety and adherence to transport regulations remain our top priorities,” he said. “JPJ Sarawak will continue to carry out such enforcement activities from time to time to ensure all e-hailing operators meet the required standards.”

The move reflects JPJ Sarawak’s commitment to safeguarding passengers and strengthening the reliability of public transport services in the state. Commuters are reminded to always verify that the e-hailing services they use are properly licensed and meet safety standards.

With continued monitoring and strict enforcement, authorities hope to curb violations and enhance public confidence in e-hailing services throughout Sarawak.
