During the operation, JPJ officers seized a Mercedes vehicle found to be operating with an expired Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM) since 2024. The car was also uninsured, a serious offence under road transport regulations.

Officials confirmed that the seizure was conducted in accordance with existing laws. JPJ stressed that enforcement applies to all vehicles, regardless of type or category, highlighting the department’s commitment to protecting road users and ensuring compliance.

Ops Luxury is part of JPJ’s broader strategy to address non-compliance among vehicle owners, particularly luxury vehicles sometimes driven without proper documentation.

The department emphasised that expired licences and lack of insurance not only break the law but also pose significant public safety risks.

JPJ Kuching reiterated its commitment to continuing regular enforcement operations. Through strict monitoring, the department aims to uphold discipline among motorists and reduce the risk of accidents caused by negligence or disregard for regulations.

The operation also serves as a reminder to vehicle owners to keep their licences valid and maintain insurance coverage. JPJ highlighted that compliance with road laws is essential for safeguarding lives and ensuring safe travel for all.

With Ops Luxury, JPJ Kuching reinforced that enforcement will remain consistent and impartial, targeting violations across all vehicle categories.

The department assured the public that such initiatives will continue to be intensified to strengthen road safety standards in Sarawak.
