KUALA LUMPUR – A heartfelt retirement ceremony was held at the Police Training Centre (PULAPOL) Kuala Lumpur to honour CP Dato’ Hj. Baharuddin Hj. Ahmad, Deputy Director General of National Security (Strategic Security) at the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM).

The event, attended by senior officials from the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and the National Security Council (MKN), celebrated his 38 years of dedicated service to the nation.

Dato’ Hj. Baharuddin, accompanied by his wife, Datin Hasimah Yon Abdul Latif, was warmly welcomed by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay and his wife, Puan Sri Dato’ Zalena Mohd Ariffin, Vice Chairman of the Malaysian Police Family Association.

The ceremony was also supported by CP Dato’ Sri Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid, Director of Management and Chairman of the Organising Committee, along with other PDRM directors.

Born in Alor Gajah, Melaka, Dato’ Hj. Baharuddin began his public service journey as a trainee inspector at PULAPOL Kuala Lumpur on 28 February 1988.

Over the years, he advanced through the ranks, serving in the Special Branch in various roles, including Deputy Head of Special Branch I in Terengganu, Head of Special Branch in Kedah, Assistant Director of Division E4 at Bukit Aman, and Deputy Director of Special Branch E1.

On 15 August 2022, he was appointed Deputy Director of Special Branch I at Bukit Aman and later promoted to Director of Special Branch on 27 September 2022. His career reached the national level when he was named Deputy Director General of National Security (Strategic Security) at MKN on 10 April 2023.

Throughout his tenure, Dato’ Hj. Baharuddin played a key role in shaping national security policies, overseeing programme development, and coordinating strategic implementation. His contributions included drafting regulations and instructions essential to Malaysia’s security framework.

The farewell featured a symbolic moment when Dato’ Hj. Baharuddin conducted the PDRM Central Band, led by Superintendent Mohd Fazilah Mohamad Noor and assisted by DSP Mesmoro Edward, performing the song Salam Terakhir.

The ceremony concluded with a moving recital of the poem Di Hujung Sumpah Setia by Diplomatic Administrative Officer Tuan Mohd Husaini Mohd Rofi, leaving a lasting impression on attendees.

As a father of four, Dato’ Hj. Baharuddin leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, discipline, and service. His colleagues expressed deep gratitude for his sacrifices and unwavering commitment to public duty.

On behalf of PDRM, tributes were paid to honour his remarkable career, with wishes for continued blessings, health, and happiness for him and his family in retirement.
