The initiative was highlighted during the Iftar Ceremony with Asnaf held at Dewan Muktamar, Kampung Jabai, on Monday. The event provided a platform to strengthen community welfare, particularly in supporting the needy during the holy month of Ramadan and in preparation for Aidilfitri.

TBS Deputy General Manager, Iskandar Allan, said the programme reflects the organisation’s commitment to ensuring aid reaches its intended recipients in a structured and comprehensive manner.

“Through this Kasih Ramadan Programme, we not only celebrate the asnaf in an atmosphere of breaking fast together but also provide direct financial assistance to ease their burden of expenses during Ramadan and Aidilfitri,” he said.

As part of the ceremony, symbolic assistance worth RM31,100 was handed over to 22 recipients. The wider distribution under the TBS Living Wage Assistance scheme benefits heads of families and their dependents across Bintulu Division.

The programme also extends support to Tahfiz Centres and students, reinforcing efforts to empower Islamic educational institutions in Sarawak. In addition, TBS Bintulu Division has appointed 39 certified Amil Zakat Fitrah, stationed at mosques, suraus, and strategic locations, to facilitate Muslims in fulfilling their zakat obligations during Ramadan.

According to TBS, as of 31 January 2026, the organisation has channelled RM9.93 million in aid to asnaf groups throughout Sarawak. This was achieved through four core programmes: the Strengthening Scholarly Traditions Programme, the Developing Islamic Institutions Programme, the Strengthening Ummah Welfare Programme, and the Ummah Skills Improvement Programme.

The ceremony was attended by Zaini Ramli, Head of the TBS Bintulu Division, and Johnny Jimon, Head of Kampung Jabai. Their presence underscored the importance of community collaboration in ensuring welfare initiatives reach those most in need.
