BINTULU – Deputy Minister of Communications Teo Nie Ching officiated the handover of acceptance letters (SST) for three major projects under Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) Sarawak, with a combined value exceeding RM36 million. The projects are being implemented by the Public Works Department Malaysia (JKR) Sarawak.
One of the key developments is the RTM Bintulu Broadcasting Complex, valued at RM17.77 million. The complex will include office blocks, technical facilities, mechanical and electrical buildings, guardhouses, and external works, along with furniture installations.
Two staff quarters projects were also approved. These include the RTM Sri Aman Staff Quarters worth RM9.98 million and the RTM Sibu Staff Quarters valued at RM8.87 million. Both developments will provide Class F and Class G housing units with supporting facilities such as mechanical, electrical, and external works.
All three projects are scheduled for completion in August 2027, representing a major investment in broadcasting infrastructure across Sarawak.
During the ceremony, Teo Nie Ching expressed hope the projects will proceed smoothly and finish within the planned timeline. She stressed the need to avoid delays so the facilities serve RTM staff and communities as intended.
Also present was Sharifah Liz Farawati Wan Omar, Director of the Public Works Department of Malaysia Sarawak. She reaffirmed the department’s commitment to delivering the developments efficiently while maintaining quality and meeting project deadlines.
The projects are expected to strengthen public broadcasting services by improving facilities for Radio Televisyen Malaysia in the state. The new staff quarters will also provide better living conditions for employees, supporting their work in delivering information to the public.
Officials said the developments reflect the government’s broader effort to strengthen communication infrastructure, ensuring communities across Sarawak receive reliable access to news and information.
The ceremony in Bintulu marked another step in strengthening the role of Radio Televisyen Malaysia as a key platform for connecting communities and sharing information throughout the state.
