KUCHING – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim underscored the importance of unity and reform during his attendance at the KEADILAN Mini Convention and the Sarawak Branch Annual General Meeting on Friday evening.
He described the gathering with party members as significant, noting that KEADILAN is not merely a political organisation but a platform born from determination to bring change, uphold justice, and elevate the dignity of the people.
The Prime Minister emphasised that the country’s progress must be shared by all citizens, not confined to the elite. He highlighted KEADILAN’s consistent role in voicing concerns across diverse communities, from issues involving customary land in Sarawak to the welfare of people in Sabah, Kelantan, Perlis, and Johor.
He stated, “This country will only be peaceful and strong when we see common interests as the basis of struggle, beyond the narrow sentiments of race, region or group.”
Calling on party leaders, members, and activists to strengthen their ranks, Anwar stressed that the true test of reform lies in governance. He acknowledged that not all reforms can be implemented as quickly as desired, but consistency and commitment remain essential.
“I admit that we cannot do all the reforms we desire as quickly as we want, but what is important is that we must be consistent and realise that we are not ‘perfect’ and carry out our work as best we can,” he said.
The Prime Minister credited the strength of KEADILAN’s grassroots, including branches, youth wings, and women’s wings, for fuelling the party’s spirit and sustaining its mission to build a just and prosperous Malaysia.
Observers noted that the convention reinforced KEADILAN’s emphasis on inclusivity and justice, while also serving as a reminder of the challenges of implementing reforms in power. The event highlighted the party’s ongoing commitment to unity and its determination to ensure that progress benefits all Malaysians.
