SARIKEI – The Sungai Krian Bridge will officially open to the public on 18 March 2026, following a pre-opening ceremony officiated by Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Premier of Sarawak.
Datuk Amar Douglas, who also serves as Minister of Finance and New Economy II and Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development of Sarawak, highlighted the importance of the bridge as part of the state’s ongoing infrastructure expansion. The project is expected to significantly improve connectivity for residents and businesses in the surrounding areas.
The Sungai Krian Bridge forms part of the Sarawak Coastal Road development initiative, which has been steadily transforming transport networks across the state. By reducing travel times and improving accessibility, the project aims to stimulate economic growth and enhance the quality of life for rural and urban communities alike.
The bridge’s completion reflects the Sarawak Government’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, who has prioritised road and bridge construction as a cornerstone of the state’s Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
With the opening of the Sungai Krian Bridge, residents will benefit from safer and faster travel, while businesses are expected to enjoy improved logistics and market access. The project also underscores the role of the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) as the implementing agency, ensuring that construction meets national standards for safety and durability.
The ceremony marks another milestone in Sarawak’s infrastructure journey, adding to the growing list of completed bridges under the state’s ambitious development agenda.
