SARATOK – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Saratok successfully captured a snake in Kampung Bunga Raya on 30 March 2026, following a public complaint.
The incident involved a Buffalo Rib snake (Ptyas mucosa) measuring approximately four feet in length. The reptile was discovered hiding behind a closet in the complainant’s home.
Three members of the Alpha Squad were dispatched to the location and carried out the operation efficiently. Using specialised equipment, the team managed to secure the snake safely without any untoward incident.
APM Saratok confirmed that all personnel and operational equipment were in good condition throughout the mission. The successful capture ensured the safety of the household and prevented potential harm to residents.
Authorities reminded the public to remain vigilant and to report similar cases immediately. Snakes often seek shelter in homes or nearby structures, particularly during hot weather or when disturbed from their natural habitats. Quick reporting allows trained personnel to respond promptly and minimise risks.
The operation reflects APM Saratok’s ongoing commitment to community safety and its readiness to handle wildlife-related emergencies.
Their swift intervention highlights the importance of coordinated emergency response in protecting residents from dangerous encounters.
This case also underscores the broader role of the Civil Defence Force in safeguarding communities, not only during disasters but also in everyday situations where public safety is at risk.
