The distress call was initiated by a member of the public who witnessed the woman’s condition and recognised the need for urgent professional intervention.

In response, a team comprising four APM members was immediately dispatched to the scene to provide critical pre-hospital care and facilitate a safe transfer to a medical facility.

Upon reaching the location, the Civil Defence team observed that the elderly woman was still actively experiencing a seizure.

The responders focused on stabilising the victim and ensuring she remained in a safe position to prevent physical injury during the episode.

According to officials, the priority was to calm the victim and monitor her vital signs before proceeding with the evacuation.

Seizures in the elderly can be caused by various factors, including stroke, electrolyte imbalances, or underlying neurological conditions, making rapid professional assessment vital.

The APM team’s role is crucial in these “golden hour” moments, where initial treatment can significantly impact the patient’s recovery prospects.

Once the situation was brought under control and the victim was sufficiently stabilised, she was carefully transported to Betong Hospital.
