The District Operations Control Centre (PKOD Sebauh) received a call from members of the public reporting the presence of a snake in the area. The incident, which occurred on 6 April, was categorised as a KMU case, requiring immediate intervention.

APM personnel were quickly dispatched to the location to handle the situation. Upon arrival, officers confirmed the presence of the reptile and moved to capture it safely.

Their actions prevented potential harm to residents and ensured that the snake did not pose further risk to the community.

The operation was carried out smoothly, with the team demonstrating effective coordination and professionalism. No injuries were reported, and the area was declared safe following the removal of the snake.

Snake encounters are not uncommon in rural and semi-rural parts of Sarawak, particularly during hot weather when reptiles may wander into populated areas in search of food or shelter. Authorities have reminded residents to remain cautious and avoid attempting to handle snakes themselves.

APM Sebauh has urged the public to report similar incidents immediately through its emergency lines. Assistance can be requested via 999 or directly through the district’s 24-hour hotlines at 019-2178746 and 086-422634. These channels ensure rapid response to wildlife-related emergencies and other hazards.

Community leaders expressed gratitude for the timely intervention, noting that the presence of snakes can cause anxiety among residents.

The incident highlights the importance of public cooperation in reporting threats and the readiness of emergency services to respond effectively.

The successful capture in Kampung Hilir Sebauh reflects ongoing efforts by local authorities to safeguard communities from environmental and wildlife risks, reinforcing the commitment to public safety across Sarawak.
