KUCHING – The DBKU International X-Games 2026 wrapped up on 12 April with an energetic finale at the Kuching Waterfront, capping five days of extreme sports action that drew athletes and spectators from across the globe.
The event, organised by Kuching North City Hall (DBKU), attracted around 200 athletes from Malaysia and abroad, making it one of the most vibrant platforms for urban sports in the region.
The competition showcased a wide range of disciplines, blending traditional extreme sports with modern urban culture.
The Mayor of Kuching North, YB Dato Haji Hilmy bin Haji Othman, was present throughout the event to lend his support and oversee its organisation.
His involvement underscored the city’s commitment to promoting sports as a means of engaging youth and elevating Sarawak’s talent to the international stage.
This year’s edition introduced fresh elements that added to the excitement. Among the highlights was the inclusion of water-based events such as jet ski racing, which proved to be a major attraction for visitors.
The combination of land and water sports created a dynamic atmosphere, reflecting the evolving nature of extreme sports and their growing popularity among younger generations.
Organisers emphasised that the DBKU International X-Games is more than just a competition. It serves as a platform to nurture local athletes, encourage healthy lifestyles, and position Sarawak as a hub for international sporting events.
The event also provided opportunities for cultural exchange, as participants from diverse backgrounds came together in a spirit of camaraderie and competition.
Spectators at the Kuching Waterfront were treated to high-energy performances, with athletes pushing their limits in skateboarding, BMX, inline skating, and other disciplines.
The vibrant setting of the waterfront added to the appeal, making the X-Games not only a sporting spectacle but also a cultural celebration.
As the final day concluded, DBKU expressed gratitude to all athletes, organisers, and visitors who contributed to the success of the event.
