KOTA SAMARAHAN – Police in Kota Samarahan have arrested two suspects in connection with a drug case following a raid conducted on 16 April 2026.
The operation, based on intelligence gathered by the authorities, led to the arrest of a 27-year-old local man and a 23-year-old foreign national.
The raid was carried out at a public university in Kota Samarahan, where officers seized substances believed to be marijuana weighing approximately 1,095 grams. The estimated street value of the drugs is RM4,285.30.
Both suspects were detained under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. If convicted, the offence carries severe penalties, including the death sentence or life imprisonment, along with a minimum of 15 strokes of the cane if not sentenced to death.
The suspects are currently being held at the Kota Samarahan Police Station lockup. On 17 April, they were remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code by the Investigating Officer from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
Acting Kota Samarahan District Police Chief DSP Barry Anak William stated that the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department remains committed to combating drug-related crimes.
He emphasised that drugs are considered the nation’s number one enemy, and the department is determined to protect present and future generations from their harmful impact.
Authorities have urged members of the public to assist in the fight against drugs by providing information to the police.

The arrests highlight ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb drug distribution and abuse in Sarawak, particularly in educational institutions and public spaces.
