KOTA SAMARAHAN – Police in Kota Samarahan have carried out a special enforcement operation, Op Vape, aimed at detecting and curbing the sale of vape products containing drugs.
The operation was conducted between 13 and 19 April 2026, with a focus on premises suspected of distributing illegal vape products.
The initiative was led by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the Kota Samarahan District Police Headquarters, supported by 15 officers from the Samarahan Health Office and five representatives from the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council.
The joint effort reflects a coordinated approach to tackling drug-related activities and enforcing health regulations.
During the operation, eight individuals were detained for questioning. Police confirmed that none of them had prior criminal records.
The arrests and inspections were part of a wider strategy to monitor and regulate the sale of vape products, particularly those containing controlled substances.
Authorities emphasised that enforcement was carried out under the Dangerous Drugs Act, the Smoking Products for Health Act 2024, and relevant local authority regulations.
These measures are designed to protect public health and prevent the spread of harmful substances through vape products.
Acting Kota Samarahan District Police Chief DSP Barry Anak William stated that the operation would continue periodically as a proactive measure to safeguard the community.
He urged parents to monitor their children closely and discourage them from using vape products, especially those suspected of containing drugs.
The police reiterated their commitment to combating drug abuse, describing drugs as the nation’s number one enemy. They stressed that protecting current and future generations from the dangers of narcotics remains a top priority.
