KUCHING – The Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak has achieved notable success at the 2026 Mini Convention of the Innovative and Creative Group (KIK), securing several major awards that highlight its commitment to innovation and service excellence.
The event, held under the Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development Sarawak, was officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who also serves as Minister of Finance and New Economy II and Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development.
He emphasised that the convention plays a vital role in cultivating creativity and innovation across government agencies, ultimately enhancing the efficiency of public service delivery.
JKR Sarawak’s teams stood out among the participants, with the WHITE SWAN team from the Sibu Division winning both the Champion title and Best Presentation award.
The MERAKI team from the Bintulu Division secured the Best Montage award, while the ALL STARS team from JKR Headquarters achieved Third Place. The Runner-up position was awarded to the ELITE 5 team from Miri Port Authority.
Director of Public Works Sarawak, Datu Adj. Prof. Ir. Ts. Gs. Br. PMr. Dr. Cassidy anak Morris, attended the convention and commended the dedication of JKR staff in producing innovative solutions.
He noted that the department’s achievements reflect a strong culture of creativity and a determination to improve service delivery for the people of Sarawak.
The KIK convention serves as a platform for agencies to showcase projects that address operational challenges through inventive approaches.
By encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing, the programme aims to strengthen problem-solving capabilities and inspire continuous improvement within the public sector.
