KUCHING, 5 May 2026 — A new car park will be constructed at St Ann Church following the allocation of Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funds amounting to RM100,000 by YB Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang. The project is aimed at improving facilities for church members and visitors, particularly during large gatherings and regular services.
The funding will be used to build a dedicated parking area within the church premises. The initiative is expected to ease traffic congestion around the church area and provide safer and more convenient parking for the community.
St Ann Church is one of the well-known religious centres in the area, often receiving a large number of worshippers, especially during weekend services, religious festivals, and special events. With the current limited parking space, visitors often face difficulties in finding suitable parking spots, leading to congestion along nearby roads.
The new car park project is part of ongoing efforts under the Rural Transformation Programme to improve basic infrastructure and community facilities. It also reflects continuous support from the government representative towards addressing local needs and enhancing public convenience.
YB Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang’s allocation highlights the importance of maintaining and upgrading community infrastructure in both urban and semi-urban areas. Such developments are seen as essential in ensuring smoother traffic flow and better accessibility for residents and visitors alike.
Local community members are expected to benefit significantly from this project once completed. It is also anticipated to reduce parking-related issues during peak hours and improve overall safety around the church vicinity.
The project is expected to commence soon, with further updates to be provided as construction progresses. Authorities have expressed hope that the upgraded facility will serve the community effectively for many years to come.
In conclusion, the allocation of RTP funds for the St Ann Church car park project marks another step forward in improving local infrastructure and supporting community needs in the area.
