BAU – Police have arrested two local men in Siniawan, Bau, after discovering several dangerous weapons hidden inside a vehicle during a crime prevention patrol.
The incident took place on 8 May 2026 at approximately 11:30am along Jalan Kampung Bunga Rampai, Siniawan.
Officers from the Siniawan Police Station, who were conducting routine patrols, noticed a Proton Saga BLM parked in a suspicious manner outside a house. Upon inspection, they found multiple weapons concealed inside the vehicle.
Among the items seized were a machete with a brown head and white sheath measuring about 21 inches, a grass scythe modified with a PVC pipe head, and an iron pipe approximately 20 inches long.
Police also confiscated the Proton Saga BLM and its keys as part of the investigation. The suspects, a 36-year-old driver and a 17-year-old passenger, were taken into custody for further questioning.
Record checks revealed that the older suspect had a prior criminal history linked to drug offences, while the younger individual had no previous record.
The Bau District Police chief confirmed that the arrests were part of ongoing crime prevention efforts in the district.
He emphasised that the possession of such weapons poses a serious threat to public safety and that police remain committed to ensuring the community is protected from criminal activities.
The case is currently under investigation, with authorities expected to determine whether the weapons were intended for use in criminal acts.
Police have reminded the public that carrying dangerous weapons without lawful purpose is a serious offence under Malaysian law.
This arrest highlights the importance of regular patrols and proactive policing in rural areas such as Bau, where vigilance is key to preventing crime.
