KUCHING – A new recreational park is being developed at Lorong 5, Taman Desa Wira, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance community facilities in Batu Kawa.
The project, which has already commenced construction, is one of several new initiatives planned for the area.
Deputy Premier of Sarawak and Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, recently reviewed the project alongside MPP Chairman Tan Kai.
Their visit underscored the state’s commitment to improving public amenities and creating spaces that promote healthy lifestyles.
The park is expected to provide residents with a dedicated space for leisure, exercise, and family activities. With Batu Kawa experiencing steady growth, the addition of recreational facilities is seen as vital to supporting community well-being and fostering social interaction.
Dr Sim highlighted that the development of such parks aligns with Sarawak’s broader vision of enhancing liveability in urban and suburban areas.

Tan Kai added that the project reflects the council’s ongoing efforts to respond to community needs. He confirmed that more parks are planned for Batu Kawa, ensuring that residents across different neighbourhoods will benefit from improved facilities.
