MATU – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in the Matu District successfully captured a ringed snake measuring approximately 1.5 metres after receiving an emergency call from the public on 17 May 2026.
The District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) was alerted to the incident at a residence in Kampung Tian, where the reptile had entered an animal cage. Concerned residents immediately contacted APM Matu for assistance.
Upon arrival, Civil Defence personnel were guided to the location by the complainant. The team prepared the necessary equipment before carefully carrying out the capture operation. The snake was secured without incident, and the situation was declared safe.
Wildlife-related emergencies such as this are categorised as KMU cases, reflecting the Civil Defence Force’s role in handling animal intrusions alongside other emergencies.
The successful operation highlights the unit’s readiness to respond to diverse threats, ensuring the safety of both residents and animals.
