KUCHING (June 10): Dancers from Sarawak demonstrated their remarkable talent and dedication at the recent Malaysia Challenge Cup Dance Competition (MCCDC) held at the prestigious Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC).
Tyng Dance Academy’s Chai Sin Yee and Irelene Chan Eng Xi emerged as stars, clinching silver medals in the Cultural Dance (age 20 and above) and Cultural Dance (age 19) categories respectively. Additionally, Chan secured a bronze medal in the Classical Ballet Repertoire (age 19) category.
Jasmine Kho Jing Tong, another talented dancer from the academy, proudly brought home a bronze medal in the Classical Ballet Repertoire (age 14) category.
Expressing immense pride, Chan Tyng Tyng, the founder of Tyng Dance Academy, hailed the exceptional talent and dedication displayed by the Sarawakian dancers on the national stage.
“These accolades are a testament to the rigorous training and passion of our students, as well as the unwavering support and guidance from our principal and leading coach,” she shared with The Borneo Post.
Chan emphasized the academy’s commitment to excellence and its ability to nurture young talent. “Our success in securing two silver and two bronze medals underscores our dedication to fostering excellence in dance,” she added.
As the academy celebrates this remarkable achievement, Chan highlighted the broader aspiration to make significant strides in the dance world while celebrating and sharing Sarawakian heritage through performances.
“It’s inspiring to witness our dancers excel on a national platform. They truly embody the spirit and excellence of Sarawak. We are determined to continue our journey, embodying our motto ‘We Dance, We Believe, We Make It Happen,’” Chan concluded.
