The meeting took place at Villa Setia Raja Rest Home in Betong, where discussions centred on Kampung Triso, a village visited by the governor and Toh Puan during the Kembara D’Astana Programme earlier in May.
The session provided an opportunity to exchange views and share feedback on heritage preservation and community development.
Also present was the Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, who served as ministerial escort, accompanied by his wife, Datin Hajah Siti Shorgayah Ahmad Zaidin.
Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, attended with his wife Datin Rosemarie Wong Lu Yi, while Betong Division Resident, Datu Richard Michael Abunawas, also joined the gathering.
During the dialogue, Tun Pehin Sri emphasised the importance of safeguarding Kampung Triso’s heritage, particularly its old cemetery, which he suggested should be gazetted as both a historical and current burial site.
He also proposed that the road leading to the Batang Lupar 1 Bridge roundabout be utilised as an access route to the village, improving connectivity for residents.
The governor and Toh Puan expressed appreciation for the visit, noting that such engagements strengthen collaboration between state leaders and local representatives.
They conveyed their hopes that the planned initiatives would bring prosperity and improved quality of life to the people of Kampung Triso and surrounding areas.
The meeting highlighted Sarawak’s ongoing commitment to heritage preservation and community development, reinforcing the role of dialogue and cooperation in ensuring that local traditions and infrastructure continue to thrive alongside modern progress.
