The event, titled “Remembering the Buddha in a Bustling World”, brought together chanting of sutras, flower offerings, lantern passing, meditation, and mindfulness visualisation.

These practices were complemented by musical performances from local youth, reflecting a blend of heritage and modern creativity.

A striking feature of the celebration was the backdrop of a jade-carved mural depicting the Diamond Sutra Transformation Tableau.

This artwork is believed to be the only one of its kind in the world, distinguished by the inclusion of a black cat and a white cat among the Buddha figures. The mural provided a symbolic reminder of harmony and balance in a fast-paced world.

The San Seng Tong Buddhist Culture and Education Centre, equipped with modern facilities, served as the venue for the gathering.

The centre’s design and purpose highlight Sarawak’s commitment to fostering cultural education while embracing contemporary approaches to community engagement.

The Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Dr Sim Kui Hian, who also serves as Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, congratulated the organisers for creating a celebration that resonates with both tradition and modernity.
