KUCHING – Local residents of Batu 10 came together on Sunday for a community-driven Gotong-Royong programme, organised by the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) Batu 10.
The initiative highlighted the importance of mutual cooperation in fostering a clean, safe, and harmonious environment.
The event saw active participation from YB Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang, Assemblyman for N13 Batu Kitang, alongside residents, RELA members, and representatives from the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP).
Their collective efforts underscored the value of community solidarity in maintaining public spaces and strengthening neighbourhood ties.
Dato Lo expressed his gratitude to all those involved, noting that the success of the programme was a testament to the shared responsibility of residents in caring for their surroundings.
He emphasised that such initiatives are vital in cultivating civic pride and ensuring that communities remain safe and welcoming for everyone.
The Gotong-Royong programme included cleaning activities, waste collection, and general upkeep of public areas.
These efforts not only improved the physical environment but also reinforced the spirit of cooperation among participants.
Organisers highlighted that the event was designed to encourage residents to take an active role in community development while promoting values of care and responsibility.
Community leaders pointed out that mutual cooperation programmes like this contribute to long-term benefits, including improved public health and stronger social cohesion.
By working together, residents can address local challenges more effectively and create a supportive environment for future generations.
The Batu 10 initiative reflects a broader trend across Sarawak, where grassroots programmes are increasingly recognised as essential to building resilient communities.
With active involvement from local authorities and residents, such efforts demonstrate how collective action can make a tangible difference in everyday life.
As Kuching continues to grow, events like the Batu 10 Gotong-Royong serve as reminders that community spirit remains at the heart of Sarawak’s development.
The collaboration between government representatives, organisations, and residents highlights the importance of unity in achieving shared goals for a cleaner and safer environment.
