SIBU – A joint delegation from the Sarawak Chief Government Security Office (CGSO) Key Target Unit and the Sarawak State Key Target Sub-Committee (JKPKSP) conducted a working visit to the Rajang Port Authority on Tuesday, 23 June 2026.
The inspection was aimed at reviewing security arrangements and assessing potential risks to one of the state’s most vital installations.
The team was led by CGSO Sarawak State Director, Mr Zainor bin Zailan, accompanied by Mr Mike Palmer son of Frankie Riya.
Representatives from several agencies, including the Sarawak Police Contingent (IPK), Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), Sarawak National Security Council (MKN), and the Fire and Rescue Department, also took part.
Officers from the Sarawak Federal Secretary’s Office, Sibu Division Resident’s Office, Sarawak State Control and Enforcement Unit, Sarawak Rivers Authority, and Sibu District Police Headquarters were present to support the inspection.
The visit was facilitated by Rajang Port Authority’s Head of Security, Mr Fakhri Fadullilah bin Sulaiman. Discussions centred on evaluating current safety measures and identifying areas for improvement to ensure the port remains resilient against evolving threats.
Rajang Port Authority, located along Malaysia’s longest river, plays a pivotal role in Sarawak’s trade and logistics.
Established more than five decades ago, the port has grown into a modern facility equipped with advanced machinery and infrastructure.
It serves as a major distribution centre for the central region of Sarawak, handling exports such as timber and connecting with trading partners across Asia and beyond.
The port’s strategic position in Sibu makes it a crucial link between Sarawak’s hinterland and international markets.
With ongoing infrastructure projects such as the Pan Borneo Highway expected to boost connectivity, Rajang Port is anticipated to see increased cargo movement in the coming years.
Officials emphasised that safeguarding critical assets like Rajang Port is essential for maintaining economic stability and public safety.
The inspection forms part of wider efforts by the Sarawak government to strengthen security at key installations across the state.
By conducting physical checks and engaging in comprehensive discussions, the delegation sought to ensure that Rajang Port remains well-prepared to address any potential challenges.
The visit reflects Sarawak’s commitment to protecting its infrastructure while supporting the state’s broader development goals.
