KUCHING – The Kuching District National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) carried out Prevention Ops No. 52/2026 on 22 June 2026, targeting several areas across the district in its ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse.
The operation was conducted in Taman Sri Makmur, Taman Desa Wira, Semariang Batu, and surrounding areas. As a result, two individuals were arrested for involvement in methamphetamine abuse.
Both suspects, identified as male, were detained under Section 3(1) of the Drug and Substance Abusers and Addicts Act 1983 for further investigation and action.
AADK Kuching emphasised that the operation forms part of its wider strategy to intensify prevention and enforcement measures against drug misuse.
Officials highlighted that such initiatives are crucial to safeguarding the well-being of the local community and reducing the impact of substance abuse on families and society.
Methamphetamine, commonly known as “meth”, remains one of the most widely abused substances in Malaysia, posing serious health risks and contributing to social problems.
Authorities have consistently warned of its destructive effects, including addiction, mental health issues, and criminal behaviour.
The Kuching District AADK reaffirmed its commitment to continuing proactive enforcement operations while also strengthening community awareness programmes.
By combining prevention, education, and enforcement, the agency aims to build a safer environment and reduce the prevalence of drug-related offences in Sarawak.
This latest operation reflects the agency’s determination to act decisively against drug abuse and ensure that offenders are dealt with according to the law.
Community members are encouraged to cooperate with enforcement agencies by reporting suspicious activities to help protect neighbourhoods from the dangers of narcotics.
