SERIAN – The National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) Serian District conducted an integrated operation on 24 June 2026, working alongside several enforcement agencies to tackle drug abuse, immigration offences, and traffic violations.
The operation, held from 8.00 am to 12.00 noon, was led by Mr Thommyson Anak Jeveni, Head of AADK Serian District.
It involved collaboration with the Sarawak Malaysian Immigration Department, the Serian IPD Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN), and the Road Transport Department (JPJ).
The joint effort took place at the JPJ Rayang Vehicle Weighing Station and along Jalan Serian-Sri Aman and Jalan Kuching-Serian.
AADK officers carried out urine screening tests on 21 individuals. Results showed that 18 tested negative, while two were positive for ketum and one for methamphetamine.
All three were detained under Section 3(1) of the Drug Addicts (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983 for further action.
Meanwhile, the Sarawak Immigration Department, led by Mr Luke Decker from the Enforcement Division, inspected 109 individuals comprising Malaysian, Indonesian, and Indian citizens.
One Indonesian male was detained under Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 after being found in a lorry. The local driver was issued a witness summons to assist in the investigation.
The Serian IPD JSJN team, headed by D/Sub Inspector John Berma, inspected three local men, all of whom tested positive for amphetamine/methamphetamine.
They were detained under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 to aid investigations. JPJ officers, led by Mr Albert Nading, inspected 187 vehicles during the operation.
Action was taken against 36 vehicles for various traffic offences, with 41 notices issued. Offences included driving without a licence, expired vehicle licences, lack of insurance coverage, improper registration numbers, exhaust modifications, and other technical violations.
Authorities emphasised that the integrated operation demonstrates the ongoing commitment of enforcement agencies to combat drug abuse, uphold immigration laws, and improve road safety.
The coordinated effort reflects a broader strategy to protect community well-being and ensure compliance with national regulations.
