The enforcement exercise began late at night on 25 June and continued into the early hours of 26 June, running from 11.30pm until 3.00am.

Officers focused their patrols on several key areas, including Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakub, MASJA, Bulatan Gersik, Jalan Astana, Jalan Abang Abdul Rahim, Jalan Diplomatik and Jalan Gambier.

During the operation, police inspected 27 vehicles and checked 30 individuals. A total of nine summonses were issued under PDRM (K) 257, covering various traffic offences.

In addition, one motorcycle was seized under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987, which allows for confiscation in cases involving illegal modifications or dangerous use.

Authorities explained that the operation was designed to ensure compliance with traffic laws and to address offences linked to reckless riding, unauthorised modifications, and street racing activities.

These behaviours are considered serious threats to public safety, often endangering both riders and other road users.

Police highlighted that such enforcement actions are part of ongoing efforts to curb the rise of “samseng jalanan” or road thugs, a term used to describe individuals who engage in illegal racing and disruptive motorcycle activities.

The crackdown reflects the department’s commitment to maintaining order on the roads and protecting the community from accidents caused by irresponsible behaviour.

Community members have been urged to cooperate with enforcement initiatives by reporting suspicious activities and avoiding participation in illegal racing.

Authorities stressed that compliance with traffic regulations is essential to reduce accidents and fatalities, particularly among young riders who are often involved in such cases.

The Kuching District Police reiterated that similar operations will continue to be conducted across the city to deter offenders and reinforce the importance of safe driving practices.

By combining strict enforcement with public awareness, the department aims to create a safer environment for all road users.
