MIRI – Police in Miri have arrested a 31-year-old local man in connection with the theft of a motorcycle reported in the Tudan residential area last month.
The case was first reported on 12 May at 3.09pm, when the complainant discovered that his motorcycle, parked outside a house in Tudan, had gone missing. The vehicle was believed to have been stolen.
Following weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance, a team of officers led by ASP Goldy Anak Jangan, Chief of Miri Central Police Station, carried out an operation in Kampung Lereng Bukit. The suspect was apprehended at approximately 1.00am on 26 June 2026.
During the arrest, police seized a Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle, which is believed to be the stolen vehicle linked to the case. The suspect was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Miri Central Police Station lockup.
Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing under Section 379A of the Penal Code, which covers theft of motor vehicles. If convicted, offenders face significant penalties, including imprisonment.
Police emphasised that the arrest demonstrates the importance of community cooperation in combating crime.
