KUCHING – The Sarawak State Orders of Graduation ceremony for 2024 and 2025 was held at the Great Hall of Astana Sarawak on 2 July, where 152 individuals were formally recognised for their service and contributions to the state.
The event was officiated by His Excellency Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, Governor of Sarawak, alongside Her Excellency Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajjah Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi.
The ceremony commenced at 11.00 am following formal consent granted to the Registrar of Degrees, Dato’ Sri Haji Syed Hamzah bin Syed Paie, Senior Private Secretary to the Governor.
Recipients were honoured with a range of state orders, stars and medals, acknowledging achievements across public administration, community service, and professional excellence.
The awards highlighted the state’s appreciation for individuals who have demonstrated integrity, dedication and commitment to Sarawak’s progress.
Among the distinguished honours, the Sarawak Most High Order of the Serpent Star – Serpent Star Officer (P.B.K) was awarded to 13 recipients, including Dr Haji Zainal Abiddin bin Haji Masleh and Puan Dayang Mariana binti Abang Bolhassan.
The Public Administration Medal – Pengat Persekutuan Bakti (P.P.B.) was presented to 20 individuals, such as Encik Abdul Razak bin Amin and Puan Ong Choon Mui.
The Most Excellent Order of the Sarawak Star – Member (A.B.S.) was conferred upon 13 recipients, while 27 individuals received the Kenyalang Star (A.B.K).
The Commendable Service Medal (P.P.T) was awarded to 35 recipients, and 44 individuals were recognised with the Bentara Bintang Sarawak (B.B.S).
The ceremony was attended by senior state leaders, including Speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Asfia bin Awang Nassar, Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Anak Utom, Deputy State Secretary Datu Felicia Tan Ya Hua, and Mufti of Sarawak Datu Haji Khalidi bin Haji Ibrahim. Heads of departments and senior officers from both state and federal levels were also present.
The proceedings concluded with a prayer led by Ustaz Haji Syed Mohd Rusydi bin Haji Wan Yusup, Religious and Research Officer at the Governor’s Office. Following this, the Registrar of Degrees confirmed the successful completion of the ceremony.
In his closing remarks, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi expressed his gratitude and congratulated all honourees, emphasising their role in strengthening Sarawak’s development.
He encouraged recipients to continue serving the people with distinction, uphold noble values, and act as role models within their communities.
This annual recognition underscores Sarawak’s commitment to celebrating individuals whose contributions have significantly shaped the state’s growth and wellbeing.
