KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim received a courtesy visit from Dr Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defence, Domestic and Foreign Affairs Committee of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) National Council, on Wednesday afternoon.
The meeting highlighted the UAE’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Malaysia, particularly in exploring new areas of strategic cooperation that could deliver mutual benefits.
Both sides exchanged views on current geopolitical developments, including tensions between the United States and Iran and their wider implications for regional stability.
Prime Minister Anwar noted the importance of continued collaboration with the UAE, emphasising that Malaysia values partnerships that contribute to peace, prosperity, and security in the region.
He welcomed the UAE’s proactive approach in sharing experiences and best practices, particularly in governance and defence.
Artificial intelligence (AI) was a key topic of discussion. Dr Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi outlined the UAE’s policy requiring ministers and senior government officials to undergo AI training, ensuring leadership remains prepared for rapid technological changes.
Prime Minister Anwar praised this initiative, acknowledging the relevance of AI in strengthening defence capabilities and improving governance structures.
Malaysia has been actively exploring AI integration across multiple sectors, including national security, public administration, and economic development.
The government has identified AI as a critical tool for enhancing efficiency, improving decision-making, and safeguarding national interests in an increasingly complex global environment.
