KUCHING – The auditions for Kuching Got Talent 2026 have officially concluded, marking the end of two days of vibrant performances across multiple categories.
The event drew strong participation from aspiring singers and dancers, reflecting the city’s growing enthusiasm for the performing arts.
A total of 122 entries were received across five categories. Cultural and classical dance attracted 14 groups, while contemporary and urban dance saw 17 teams competing.
Singing proved to be the most popular segment, with 45 contestants in the junior category, 27 in the youth category, and 23 in the open category.
Following the auditions, the organisers announced the results. Seven cultural and classical dance groups will advance directly to the Grand Final, while 13 contemporary and urban dance teams will compete in the Semi-Finals.
In the singing categories, 20 junior contestants, 15 youth singers, and 13 open category performers secured places in the Semi-Finals.
The Semi-Finals are scheduled for 15 August 2026, with the Grand Final taking place the following day at the MBKS Theatre in Kuching Park.
These stages are expected to showcase the best of local talent, with finalists competing for recognition in front of a live audience.
Organising Chairman Councillor Albert Tay expressed his appreciation to all participants, parents, coaches, and judges for their dedication and support.
He noted that the quality of performances had been inspiring and highlighted the enthusiasm displayed by contestants across all categories.
“The enthusiasm and quality of performances have been truly inspiring. Congratulations to all our finalists and semi-finalists. We look forward to welcoming everyone for an exciting Semi-Final and Grand Final this August,” he said.
The competition, which has become a fixture in Kuching’s cultural calendar, continues to provide a platform for young and emerging talents to gain exposure and experience.
It also strengthens community engagement by bringing together performers, families, and audiences in celebration of creativity and diversity.
