Prosperous Generation Programme Builds Anti-Drug Awareness in Julau

JULAU – SK Nanga Meluan hosted the Prosperous Generation Programme 2026 on Friday, 10 July, with the support of the Sarikei District National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK). The initiative aimed to raise awareness among students about the dangers of drug abuse and its impact on individuals, families, and society.

The programme featured an Anti-Drug Talk and an exhibition conducted by AADK officers, providing students with valuable insights into the risks associated with illicit substances. Participants were introduced to the different types of drugs, current trends in abuse, and the importance of making responsible choices to secure a healthier future.

Teachers and organisers emphasised that early education plays a crucial role in prevention. By equipping young people with knowledge, the programme sought to empower them to resist peer pressure and avoid harmful behaviours. The interactive exhibition allowed students to engage directly with information materials, reinforcing the lessons shared during the talk.

Sarikei District AADK highlighted its commitment to strengthening early prevention efforts through education and awareness. Officials explained that instilling anti-drug values at a young age is essential to building a generation that is resilient, positive, and focused on personal growth.

Students expressed enthusiasm about the programme, noting that the sessions helped them understand the seriousness of drug abuse and its consequences. Teachers observed that the initiative encouraged students to think critically about their choices and reinforced the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.

Community leaders welcomed the collaboration between SK Nanga Meluan and AADK, stressing that schools are vital platforms for spreading awareness. They added that involving students in such programmes ensures that prevention messages reach families and communities more effectively.

The Prosperous Generation Programme also reflected broader efforts in Sarawak to integrate anti-drug education into school activities. By combining talks, exhibitions, and interactive learning, organisers ensured that the message was both accessible and impactful.

Observers noted that the programme aligns with national strategies to combat drug abuse by focusing on prevention rather than rehabilitation. By targeting younger audiences, AADK aims to reduce the likelihood of future drug-related issues and promote healthier communities.

As the event concluded, organisers expressed optimism that the lessons learned would inspire students to become advocates for a drug-free lifestyle. The programme’s success highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between schools, government agencies, and communities in safeguarding the younger generation.
