At the launch, Mayor of Kuching South, Dato Wee Hong Seng, described the special edition can as more than just packaging. He emphasised that the design represents Kuching’s identity, culture and vibrant food scene. “Every can becomes an ambassador for our city, showcasing Kuching and our internationally recognised food culture to people across the country,” he said.

This marks the first time the Kuching Festival has been featured on a Pepsi can, which will be distributed and sold throughout Malaysia. The initiative highlights Kuching’s growing reputation as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, reflecting the city’s commitment to preserving its culinary heritage while embracing innovation.

Pepsi has returned as the Main Sponsor of the Kuching Festival Fair for the second consecutive year, contributing RM60,000 in cash alongside in-kind support. Sponsorship includes festival sun tents, co-branded promotional materials, exclusive Pepsi cans, digital marketing assistance and product sponsorship for festival activities.

The Kuching Festival Fair 2026 is scheduled to run from 22 July to 16 August. It will feature over 300 food stalls, 97 indoor trade exhibition booths, 29 amusement and game stalls, nightly entertainment and the popular Garden Show. The event is recognised as one of Malaysia’s largest and most anticipated community festivals, drawing visitors from across the country.

MBKS has invited residents and visitors alike to collect the Limited Edition Pepsi Can and join in the festivities. The council emphasised that the collaboration with Pepsi not only celebrates the festival but also strengthens Kuching’s profile as a city of culture, gastronomy and hospitality.

The Kuching Festival has long been a platform for showcasing the city’s diverse food offerings, cultural performances and community spirit. With the introduction of the limited edition Pepsi can, organisers hope to extend the festival’s reach beyond Sarawak, allowing Malaysians nationwide to connect with Kuching’s unique identity.

The partnership reflects a growing trend of integrating cultural events with commercial collaborations, creating opportunities to promote local heritage while engaging wider audiences. For Kuching, the initiative reinforces its position as a hub of creativity and culinary excellence.

As anticipation builds for the upcoming festival, MBKS has assured that this year’s edition will continue to highlight the city’s rich traditions while offering new experiences for visitors. The limited edition Pepsi can is expected to become a collector’s item, symbolising the fusion of global brands with local culture.
