SRI AMAN – The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Sri Aman responded promptly to a public complaint regarding a fallen tree that was obstructing a main road leading to Jalan Kejatau on Thursday, 16 July 2026.
The incident was reported at 10.22am by a member of the public, identified as Sairuz, who alerted authorities that the tree had collapsed onto nearby wires, posing a potential hazard to road users.
Following the report, the APM Sri Aman team was immediately dispatched to the site using JMC (LRV) logistics. The location was approximately one kilometre from the Sri Aman District Civil Defence Operations Centre (PKOD).
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a rubber tree had fallen across the road, blocking access and entangling electrical wires in the area. The team quickly initiated cutting and clearing operations to remove the obstruction and reduce risks to motorists.
The tree was successfully cut into manageable sections and removed from the roadway. APM members also cleaned the surrounding area to ensure that the path was safe for use. The operation concluded once the site was confirmed secure and free from further danger.
The Sri Aman District Civil Defence Force reiterated its commitment to providing rapid and effective emergency assistance. Officials emphasised that their priority is to safeguard the community by responding to incidents that threaten public safety, whether involving natural hazards, accidents, or other emergencies.
Fallen trees are a recurring challenge in Sarawak, particularly during periods of heavy rain or strong winds. Such incidents can disrupt traffic, damage infrastructure, and pose risks to road users. Civil Defence teams across the state remain on standby to address these hazards and restore safety as quickly as possible.
Community members are encouraged to report similar incidents promptly to ensure swift intervention. Public cooperation plays a vital role in enabling emergency services to respond effectively and prevent accidents.
The Sri Aman operation highlights the importance of preparedness and the dedication of Civil Defence personnel. Their swift action not only restored access to Jalan Kejatau but also reassured residents of the department’s readiness to manage emergencies.
As Sarawak continues to develop, the role of agencies such as APM remains crucial in maintaining safety and supporting communities. The incident serves as a reminder of the everyday challenges faced by emergency responders and the importance of their presence in ensuring public wellbeing.
