LUNDU – The Sarawak Manpower Department (Jabatan Tenaga Kerja, JTK) has reinforced its commitment to community welfare by delivering Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) assistance in conjunction with the Labour Go Rural Area Programme (LGRAP) 7.0.
On 17 July, hampers and daily necessities were distributed to seven recipients in Lundu, marking the start of a wider initiative to support vulnerable households.
The delivery was led by Sarawak Manpower Director, YBrs. Puan Jamillah binti Putit, who was accompanied by local headmen. Their presence symbolised the spirit of solidarity and collective responsibility in uplifting communities.
The recipients expressed gratitude for the assistance, which provided much-needed relief and highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring that rural residents are not overlooked.
The CSR programme was made possible through collaboration with ADTEC Kampus Serian and the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
Both institutions contributed hampers and daily essentials, demonstrating the strength of partnerships between agencies under the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA).
Officials explained that the initiative reflects the ministry’s broader mission of strengthening community well-being through welfare programmes.
By combining resources and expertise, agencies can deliver more impactful support and ensure that assistance reaches those most in need.
In total, 20 recipients will benefit from the CSR programme. Seven received aid on 17 July, while another 13 are scheduled to receive assistance during the official opening ceremony of LGRAP 7.0 at Kampung Biawak Multipurpose Hall, Lundu, on 18 July.
This phased distribution ensures that support is extended to a wider group of households across the district.
The CSR initiative is part of LGRAP’s wider objective of bringing government services closer to rural communities.
By integrating welfare support with outreach programmes, the Sarawak Manpower Department aims to strengthen trust, improve service delivery, and nurture community resilience.
Community leaders welcomed the programme, noting that it not only provides immediate relief but also reinforces the importance of collaboration between government agencies and local institutions.
They emphasised that such initiatives foster stronger networks and encourage collective responsibility in addressing social challenges.
The Sarawak Manpower Department reaffirmed its commitment to continuing similar outreach efforts across the state.
Officials stressed that welfare initiatives, combined with employment and training programmes, form a holistic approach to empowering communities and ensuring inclusive development.
As LGRAP 7.0 progresses, the CSR programme stands as a testament to the government’s aspiration of delivering services directly to the people.
By prioritising accessibility and inclusivity, the initiative ensures that rural communities remain central to Sarawak’s development agenda.
