The visit was part of ongoing efforts to assess and monitor protective security measures at installations gazetted under the Prohibited Areas and Prohibited Places Act 1959 (Act 298). These inspections are designed to ensure that facilities designated as restricted zones maintain compliance with national security standards and safeguard sensitive assets.

Officials explained that the inspection focused on evaluating the current level of protective security, identifying potential vulnerabilities, and ensuring that measures in place are consistent with regulatory requirements. Such visits are critical in maintaining the integrity of installations that play a role in national defence, public safety, and strategic infrastructure.

The Prohibited Areas and Prohibited Places Act 1959 provides the legal framework for designating and securing locations deemed vital to national interests. By conducting regular inspections, authorities aim to reinforce compliance and strengthen the resilience of these sites against potential threats.

The inspection at Rax Tebedu also highlighted the importance of collaboration between government agencies in safeguarding restricted areas. CGSO officials noted that continuous monitoring and evaluation are essential to ensure that protective measures remain effective and responsive to evolving security challenges.

Community leaders in the area welcomed the inspection, recognising its role in maintaining public confidence and ensuring that security standards are upheld. They emphasised that proactive measures such as these contribute to broader efforts to protect Sarawak’s communities and infrastructure.

Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to conducting similar inspections across other gazetted sites in Sarawak. By maintaining strict oversight, the government aims to uphold national security while ensuring that restricted areas continue to operate safely and effectively.

The inspection concluded with a review of findings and recommendations for further strengthening protective security measures. Officials expressed confidence that ongoing efforts will enhance compliance and reinforce Sarawak’s commitment to safeguarding prohibited areas and places under the law.
