BAU – The Bau District Council has been recognised for its outstanding performance in revenue management, receiving the Outstanding Achievement Award in Assessment Tax Collection 2025.
The award was presented during the Sarawak Local Authorities Conference 2026, held at VOCO Kuching by IHG on 16–17 July.
The recognition was conferred by the Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak (MPHLG) in acknowledgement of the council’s success in meeting its assessment tax collection target for 2025.
Bau District Council was among 17 local authorities across Sarawak that achieved a collection rate of 90 per cent or higher, a benchmark set to ensure financial sustainability and effective governance.
Assessment tax is a crucial source of revenue for local councils, funding essential services such as infrastructure maintenance, waste management, and community development.
By meeting and surpassing the collection target, Bau District Council has demonstrated its commitment to strengthening governance and ensuring efficient service delivery for residents.
The award reflects the council’s continuous efforts to build a transparent and effective revenue management system.
Officials emphasised that the achievement was made possible through the dedication and cooperation of council employees, whose work in streamlining processes and engaging with taxpayers has been central to success.

Recognition at the Sarawak Local Authorities Conference 2026 highlights the broader push across the state to improve governance and accountability.
Organised by the Sarawak Integrity and Ombudsman Unit in collaboration with MPHLG, the conference focused on strengthening integrity, digital transformation, and financial transparency among local authorities.
