DEBAK – Approximately 1,000 participants converged at the Debak Unity Hall on 25 July 2026 to celebrate the Sarawak State Father’s Day. The event was organised to honour the invaluable contributions, sacrifices, and enduring love of fathers in shaping resilient and harmonious families across the state.
The programme was a joint initiative by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) and the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN). It served as a platform to recognise the pivotal role fathers play in nurturing the next generation and maintaining social stability within the community.
Dato’ Sri Rohani Abdul Karim, Chairman of LPPKN, officiated the ceremony, representing the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Dato’ Sri Nancy Shukri. In her opening address, she emphasised that fatherhood extends far beyond the provision of material needs. She described it as a profound trust that encompasses the holistic development of children, including their education, moral values, integrity, and emotional well-being.
Highlighting the theme of this year’s celebration, “As Great as Father’s LOVE”, Dato’ Sri Rohani noted that the event aims to acknowledge the multifaceted responsibilities shouldered by fathers. She pointed out that while expressions of paternal love may vary, the presence of a father provides an essential foundation of confidence, security, and strength for all family members.
She further elaborated that the true measure of a father’s greatness lies not in his social status or wealth, but in the time, attention, and responsibility he dedicates to his family. Calling for collective support, Dato’ Sri Rohani urged every family member to appreciate and assist fathers in their roles. Also speaking at the event was Datuk Dr. Mohamad Razi Sitam, the Sarawak Deputy Minister of Community Wellbeing. Additionally, Rahmah Sales were held, allowing visitors to purchase goods at affordable prices, adding a practical benefit to the celebratory atmosphere.

Dato’ Sri Rohani expressed her gratitude to the Sarawak State LPPKN, the Debak Subdistrict Office, government departments, strategic partners, and all volunteers who contributed to the smooth execution of the event. Other dignitaries in attendance included Datu Felicia Tan Ya Hua, Sarawak Deputy Secretary to the Government and LPPKN Board Member; Dato’ Abdul Shukur Abdullah, Director General of LPPKN; and Mohd Nizam Wang, Betong Division Deputy Resident.
