LUNDU – The Civil Defence Force (APM) in Lundu successfully responded to an emergency call regarding a hazardous insect infestation in the Sematan area. The operation was carried out on Wednesday, 29 July 2026, following a request from a local resident concerned about public safety.
The Lundu District Operations Control Center (PKOD) received a report detailing the presence of a large naning wasp nest. The nest was located in the fronds of a palm tree situated in close proximity to the complainant’s residence.
Naning wasps, known for their aggressive nature and painful sting, pose a significant risk to humans, particularly when their nests are disturbed or located near populated areas.
Fearing for the safety of his family and neighbours, the resident contacted the authorities to seek professional assistance. The APM Sematan unit was promptly deployed to the scene to handle the delicate task of neutralising the threat.
