KUCHING: Police raided several entertainment outlets around Kuching on Sunday night as part of an enforcement operation, leading to the arrest of a local man for allegedly failing to display a valid entertainment licence.
The operation, known as Op Noda and Op Pusat Hiburan, was carried out by officers from the D7 Branch of the Criminal Investigation Division at the Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD Kuching). The raid took place at about 10.25pm on August 2, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure entertainment premises comply with existing laws and regulations.
During the operation, police conducted inspections at several entertainment premises across Kuching. One of the inspections was carried out at an entertainment outlet located in GalaCity along Jalan Tun Jugah.
According to police, checks at the premises found that the operator had allegedly failed to display a valid entertainment licence during the inspection. Following the discovery, officers arrested one local man believed to be responsible for the premises.
Police also seized several items and equipment used in the operation of the entertainment outlet as part of the investigation. The seized equipment is expected to assist authorities in the ongoing investigation and enforcement process.
Kuching District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Anak Chabu said the police will continue conducting regular monitoring and enforcement operations to ensure entertainment outlet operators comply with all rules and regulations set by the relevant authorities.
He said such operations are important in maintaining public order and ensuring businesses operate within the legal requirements. He added that enforcement activities will continue from time to time throughout the district.
ACP Alexson also reminded all entertainment outlet operators in Kuching to obtain valid public entertainment licences before operating their businesses. He stressed that operators must also comply with the approved operating hours and avoid conducting business beyond the permitted time limits.
He said compliance with licensing requirements is not only a legal obligation but also helps authorities maintain safety, order, and responsible business practices within the community.
The latest operation reflects the police’s continued commitment to enforcing regulations involving entertainment premises while ensuring operators adhere to licensing conditions imposed by the authorities.
