KUCHING – Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar received a courtesy visit from Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Dato Sri Abd Halim Aman at the Sarawak State Palace on Friday.
The meeting on 14 August brought together senior representatives from MACC and the Sarawak State institution, with discussions focusing on integrity, accountability and good governance in public service.
Abd Halim was accompanied by his wife, Datin Sri Safiah Md Tahir, while Sarawak MACC Director Dato TPj Hasbilah Mohamad Salleh attended with his wife, Datin Nur Syakinah Daud.
The courtesy visit provided an opportunity for Wan Junaidi and Abd Halim to exchange views on matters relating to efforts to strengthen integrity and public accountability. They also discussed the importance of maintaining public confidence in government institutions and promoting responsible conduct within the public service.
The discussions also touched on current issues affecting the country, although no specific details of those matters were disclosed.
Abd Halim expressed his appreciation for the advice, views and suggestions shared by Wan Junaidi during the meeting. The MACC chief is responsible for leading the commission’s efforts to combat corruption and strengthen enforcement and awareness of integrity in Malaysia.
Wan Junaidi, meanwhile, acknowledged the role played by MACC in promoting greater awareness of integrity among members of the community.
