LIMBANG – The Limbang Division of the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) has carried out a monitoring visit to three ongoing development projects to assess their progress and ensure the works are being delivered according to approved requirements.
The inspection was led by JKR Limbang Divisional Engineer Ir Ts Br PMr QPr Louis son of Jonathan Philip, together with Assistant Divisional Engineer (Operations) Ir Ts Roslin Sebari and JKR Limbang officers.
The team visited three project sites, covering the renovation of the Accountant General of Malaysia (JANM) Limbang Branch office, the upgrading of the Limbang Sixth Form Centre and the replacement of the existing chain-link fencing with anti-climb fencing at the ICQS Pandaruan Complex.
The monitoring exercise was conducted to review the current implementation status of each project and assess whether construction and upgrading works were progressing in line with the respective plans and technical requirements.
At the Limbang Sixth Form Centre, the upgrading programme includes improvements to learning areas, administrative spaces and dormitories. The project also provides for new furniture and rewiring works as part of the broader effort to upgrade the facilities.
The works at the education facility cover several parts of the centre, with the different components intended to improve the condition and functionality of existing spaces used by students and staff.
Meanwhile, work at the ICQS Pandaruan Complex is focused on security improvements through the replacement of chain-link fencing with anti-climb fencing.
The fencing upgrade is intended to strengthen physical security controls around the complex, which serves as an important border checkpoint facility in the Limbang Division.
The third project inspected was the renovation of the JANM Limbang Branch office. The scope includes interior renovation, changes to the configuration and division of office spaces, as well as upgrades to mechanical and electrical systems.
The renovation programme also covers interior finishing works and improvements to security systems within the office premises.
During the monitoring visit, JKR officers assessed the implementation of the projects against their planned scopes and specifications. The inspection was also aimed at ensuring that the work meets the required standards in terms of technical compliance and construction quality.
Regular site monitoring is an important part of project implementation, allowing relevant authorities to track progress, identify issues and ensure that works remain aligned with approved plans.
For the three projects in Limbang, the latest inspection provided JKR officers with an opportunity to review the conditions on site while checking the progress of the respective upgrading and renovation works.
The projects involve different areas of public infrastructure, ranging from education and government office facilities to security infrastructure at a border complex. Their scopes therefore require different technical approaches while being subject to the same requirements for planning, specifications and quality.
JKR Limbang’s monitoring visit reflects the department’s role in overseeing the implementation of development projects within the division and ensuring that construction and upgrading works are carried out in accordance with the standards set for each project.
