SRI AMAN – A father’s irresponsible actions were exposed when he was caught involving his 16-year-old son in the purchase of drugs during a special enforcement operation in the district.
The incident was detected during Operation Perdana Bil. 2/2026, conducted by the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) Sri Aman District from 14 to 16 April.
The operation, led by Assistant Director of Enforcement and Security, Mr Mohamed Izuan bin Abdul Rahman, involved four officers and eleven members.
Authorities confirmed that the father had taken his teenage son along while buying drugs to satisfy his own addiction.
The case has drawn strong concern, highlighting the dangers of exposing minors to substance abuse and criminal activity.
In total, 25 individuals were arrested during the three-day operation for involvement in drug abuse and possession of prohibited substances.
Raids were carried out across several high-risk areas, including Kampung Hilir, Kampung Hulu, Kampung Tengah, Kampung Sabu, Kampung Entulang Bungkang, Jalan Padri, Jalan Sembauh, Tanjung Bijat, Bakong, Gran, Stumbin, Abok, Selepong, Kampung San Raba, Batu Lintang, Engkilili, Lubok Antu and surrounding areas.
Of those detained, 21 men and 4 women tested positive for drugs. The majority of cases involved methamphetamine, with 20 individuals confirmed positive. One person tested positive for ketamine, another for cannabis, and three for mitragynine (ketum).
All suspects are currently being held under Section 3(1) of the Drug and Substance Abuse and Dependence Act 1983 for investigation and further action.
The Sri Aman District AADK reiterated its commitment to intensifying operations to combat drug abuse. Officials stressed that such enforcement efforts are essential to safeguarding community safety and protecting vulnerable groups, particularly young people, from exposure to harmful substances.
Community leaders have expressed concern over the father’s actions, noting that involving minors in drug-related activities not only endangers their health but also undermines social values.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of family responsibility and the need for continued vigilance against drug abuse.
AADK emphasised that future operations will continue to target high-risk areas, with the aim of reducing drug-related offences and ensuring the well-being of residents across Sri Aman.
