Android 16 May Introduce a Colourful Revamp to Google Account Settings

As April wraps up, only May stands between us and the anticipated stable release of Android 16.

The latest iteration of Google’s mobile Operating System (OS) reached platform stability with the rollout of Android 16 Beta 3 in March, followed by Beta 4, which primarily addressed bug fixes and refinement. However, buried within this final beta are hints of upcoming enhancements, likely arriving through future quarterly updates.

Among the expected features are the ability for Pixel users to turn off their screens with a double-tap gesture, a redesigned lock screen, and the broader availability of Identity Check beyond Google and Samsung devices.

More recently, evidence has emerged suggesting that Android 16 could debut a redesigned Google account settings interface. The new look appears to mirror the earlier-reported refresh of the system settings menu, introducing a much more colourful and visually engaging design.

Instead of the existing carousel format, the revamped layout arranges settings in a vertical list, each marked with bold, colourful icons. According to Android Authority, this update also brings individual improvements to various settings pages. For example, My Activity will now have its own dedicated page featuring options like “Web & App Activity, YouTube History, and Location History.” The Security section will also receive a rebranding, now labelled Security & sign-in.

The Personal info section is seeing changes too — information is now displayed in soft-edged bubbles instead of the flat, undefined layout seen previously.

While these updates look promising, it remains uncertain whether the new interface will roll out with the initial stable release of Android 16 in June. It’s more plausible that the redesigned Google account management screen will debut alongside the broader native Settings UI update — likely part of an upcoming Feature Drop later in the year.
