SARATOK – The Saratok District Civil Defence Force responded swiftly to an emergency call on 28 April 2026 after a fallen tree obstructed a key pathway in the Peligong area.
The incident occurred early in the morning and prompted immediate deployment of four members from the Charlie Squad.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that broken branches had blocked the main route used by residents and had also struck nearby telecommunications lines.
Using specialised equipment, the team carried out cutting and clearing work to remove the debris and restore access.
The operation was completed smoothly without any complications. Authorities confirmed that the pathway has now been reopened and is safe for all vehicles. No injuries were reported during the incident.
The Civil Defence Force emphasised that rapid response to such emergencies is crucial in ensuring public safety and minimising disruption to daily life.
Fallen trees and similar hazards are common in rural areas, particularly during periods of heavy rain or strong winds, and can pose risks to both transport and communication infrastructure.
Local residents expressed relief at the prompt action taken by the Civil Defence team, noting that the blocked path was a vital route for community movement. The restoration of access also ensured that telecommunications services were not further disrupted.
The Saratok District Civil Defence Force reiterated its commitment to maintaining readiness for emergencies and encouraged the public to report incidents promptly.
By working closely with communities, authorities aim to reduce risks and safeguard essential infrastructure.
