The emergency call was made by members of the public, prompting APM to send a team to assess the situation.

Upon arrival, the personnel observed that the Saratok Fire and Rescue Department (BBP) and local villagers were already monitoring the blaze, which had spread to parts of the surrounding area.

Efforts to extinguish the fire were temporarily halted due to limited water resources available for firefighting pumps. Authorities confirmed that no injuries or accidents were reported during the operation.

Residents in the area have been urged to remain cautious and to immediately inform the relevant agencies should the fire escalate.

The Civil Defence Force emphasised that community vigilance is essential in preventing the spread of such incidents, particularly in plantation zones where dry conditions can intensify fire risks.

Oil palm plantations are known to be vulnerable to fire outbreaks, especially during periods of hot and dry weather.

Fires in these areas can cause significant damage to crops, disrupt livelihoods, and pose hazards to nearby communities.

Local authorities have repeatedly reminded plantation operators and villagers to adopt preventive measures, including maintaining firebreaks and ensuring water supplies are readily available for emergency use.

The Saratok Civil Defence Force continues to work closely with the Fire and Rescue Department and community members to monitor the situation.

Their coordinated approach reflects the importance of joint action in managing rural emergencies, where resources may be limited and rapid response is crucial.

Officials have reassured the public that the fire remains under observation and that contingency plans are in place should conditions worsen.

The incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by rural districts in balancing agricultural development with environmental safety.

As investigations into the cause of the fire proceed, authorities are expected to review strategies for improving water access in plantation areas to strengthen firefighting capabilities.

The Civil Defence Force has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding communities and supporting emergency operations across Sarawak.
